(818) 245-6310Dermal fillers offer a temporary, or semi-permanent way to restructure the face without surgical intervention. The filling agent, hyaluronic acid, is a substance which is found naturally in the body, thereby reducing concerns some might have about synthetic products. A needle, or a cannula, is used to inject the filling agent, which can be reproduced in a lab through a process known as bio-fermentation, into the desired facial areas. The length of time they remain depends on the substance used and the location of injection, but as a general guide, dermal fillers can last anywhere from 6 to 18 months, if not longer.
The procedure has exploded in popularity in recent years due to its relative affordability compared to going under the knife, the ability to tailor the injection of the filler substance in order to achieve subtle or dramatic changes in appearance in accordance with the patient’s wishes and the instantaneous results that can be achieved. Just 2 to 4 weeks is all that is needed for swelling to go down after a heavy injection of dermal filler. Smaller amounts of filler may not even result in much bruising or swelling at all. Dermal fillers address all manner of skin complaints and beauty concerns, such as wrinkles, ‘hollows’ in the under-eye area and lack of volume in lips or cheeks.
